Ruth Marcanti is a versatile artist who works in oils, watercolors, pastels, and clay. Her choice of subject includes landscapes and animals. A member of Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, Ruth enjoys the challenge of painting outdoors in the changing light. The artist also is proficient in Japanese Brush Painting and creates works on rice paper, canvas, and pottery. Ruth is a retired art teacher, has a Masters of Art from the University of Chicago, and over 30 studio hours from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She and her husband Jim moved from Chicago to New Mexico over 10 years ago and are pleased to make Jemez Springs their home.
