Amber Word (a. word)

Amber Word finds herself constantly awed and inspired by the grandeur of red rock mesas, high desert flora and the majestic presence of insects and animals of the Jemez area. With a background in mixed media sculpture, acrylic and watercolor conceptual art, Amber now spends the majority of her time using a proprietary dye and resist technique called “Wood Batik” which allows her to collaborate with the wood grain as she creates each piece. She also enjoys traversing the bridge between bold and subtle lines on watercolor paper. Her creative process is all about embracing the art of emergence. Feeling the energy of an animal, mountain range, plant or deity and collaborating with its essence through attention, bringing yet another aspect of its existence into the tangible world through mica, dye, wood, paper and ink.
