Tom Shine

Tom Shine is a contemporary painter and field survey archaeologist, and has lived and worked in the rural areas of New Mexico for most of his life. He is college educated in both of these fields and has shown and sold his work in numerous group exhibitions. His studio is here in the Jemez Mountains region of northwestern New Mexico where he and his wife, Stephanie, also make their home.
Tom works in oil on canvas in applications ranging from thick impastos to airbrush, and in bold contrasting colors or basic black & white. He draws inspiration for his artwork from living and working in the vast and varied landforms of the American Southwest, and from other sources as well. Tom does not paint just what he sees in the landscape, but rather, paints his interpretation of it, and hopes the viewer enjoys the resulting artworks.
