Member artists of the Jemez Fine Art Gallery:

James A. Vigil was born at Jemez Pueblo, NM, and has lived in this ancestral community for most of his life. It is from his experiences in a vibrant culture, daily life, and Towa language that James draws his artistic influence. James enthusiastically depicts glimpses of pueblo life through carvings in alabaster, steatite, marble and other stones as well as limited bronze editions.

Betsie Miller-Kusz was born in Los Alamos, New Mexico and has been painting for over 30 years. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including a recent show at the United Nations building in New York City. Her most recent works combine natural elements of earth, air, fire and water with a feminine guardian figure -- a protector of our earth.

Susan Vigi-Vigil is a life-long painter and retired art teacher who calls Jemez her home. She specializes in plein air oil paintings of Jemez landscapes and figures. Her desire is to capture the essence of God's creation as it is during a particular point in time so that others may enjoy its magnificence.

Theodore Greer was born in Gallup, New Mexico, and has studied photography at the San Francisco Art Institute and the University of New Mexico. His photographs of people, scenery, and archeological sites have appeared in numerous shows, publications and private collections.

Doug Wallower is a sculptor who works primarily in metal and stone. His unique figures employ natural and man-made materials and may be placed outdoors. A working sculptor for over 30 years, Doug's work is delightful, durable and collectible.
Jim Forcier-Call is a mixed-media artist whose art explores the symbolic and mystical aspects of "the soul's long journey home." Primarily self-taught, his unique and eclectic work often includes words or quotes, and draws from many diverse traditions. He has also taught workshops in making altered books.

Erica Kane is a pastel artist drawn to the natural world as a source of inspiration, teaching, healing and comfort. Her work also explores Sacred Geometry, which describes the "metastructure" of growth, change, stability and strength in nature. The gallery displays her original pastel works.

Kristen Mendenhall received her BFA from Pitzer College, Claremont, CA.  During her career as a psychologist, she became certified as an art therapist, using this to help children who lost their homes in several major CA firestorms.  After retiring to Jemez Springs, she returned to photography and painting where she expresses her reverence for the geological beauty of our area.  Her macro photographs invite the viewer to focus attention on the easily overlooked details in weathered stone and paint.

Carol Vredenburgh is a lifelong artist who lives part-time in Jemez Springs and specializes in watercolor. Her art is her way of saying "thank you" to the Creator for the great gift of life and the beauty that surrounds her - especially in New Mexico!

Deb Pero considers her creativity a God-given gift, and herself a steward of that gift, so she works as hard as she can, dedicating herself to constant learn and improve in her craft. She considers herself fortunate to be able to spend her time in such a wonderful endeavor. She says painting is hard work but a joy as well, something she was meant to do.
